Olivier Glassey is a researcher and lecturer in the Institute of Social Sciences, within the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences at the University of Lausanne (UNIL). He is a member of the Science and Technology Studies Lab (STSlab), as well as of UNIL’s Observatoire science, politique et société (Science, Politics and Society Observatory).

He received his master’s degree from the ESST (European Inter-University Association on Society, Science and Technology) and EPFL in 1994, followed by a PhD from EPFL in 2005.

Glassey’s fields of expertise include information technologies, innovation by users, innovation policy, social interactions and technologies, social studies of science and technology, unequal technologies, use design reports, and virtual communities.

He has been a scientific collaborator on numerous Swiss and European projects, and currently teaches Introduction to the Sociology of Online Social Practices at UNIL. He is also an author on nearly 50 publications in the areas of social science and technology.
