A time machine for cantonal constitutions

On June 4th, the dhCenter funded an exploratory workshop on Digital Humanities and Constitutional Rights, as part of  a series aimed at developing a “Constitutions Time Machine” for the Swiss canton of Valais.

The Constitutions Time Machine project aims to create a digital platform bringing together historical constitutions of Valais through the ages, as well as parliamentary debate archives. The goal of the interactive digital platform, modeled after EPFL’s “Venice Time Machine” project, is to explore the links between the constitutional articles and articles of law, and to allows users to visualize and analyze the role of a constitutional text.

Attendees of the June 4th online workshop explored possible synergies between the Centre for Public Law of the University of Lausanne (UNIL), the state archives of the canton of Valais, the Association Constitutions Time Machine and the dhCenter.
