Journal seeks daily ‘corona diaries’

Curare. Journal of Medical Anthropology is inviting submissions for a special issue on the coronavirus pandemic. The journal’s editorial board seeks “(auto-) ethnographic diaries that record what is happening in one’s own environment”.

The purpose of the special edition is to create a corpus of ethnographic material that will make it possible to collectively reconstruct the pandemic in the future. The ways that the coronavirus is affecting different countries, especially with border closures, are of particular interest. The editors believe that daily recordings of life during this time will provide a foundation for assessments of how the crisis was managed.

Those interested in contributing their “corona diaries” should contact curare@agem.de by March 25th, 2020. Submissions should constitute only the author’s own daily reactions and those of their environment, as opposed to retrospective accounts. Authors may send submissions all at once or on a daily basis.

Curare. Journal of Medical Anthropology, founded in 1978, is peer-reviewed, bilingual (English-German), and edited by the Association for Anthropology and Medicine (AGEM).
