Two half-day workshops are being offered online on November 26th and 27th on the theme of “Digital traces, navigational paths, and intellectual mobilities: How researchers navigate libraries and online platforms and how to foster such practices”. These workshops are organized as part of a joint project between EPFL and the University of Lausanne (UNIL), “Digital trail blazing: understanding and remaking intellectual mobility and online research platforms”, which is being carried out within the framework of the Collaborative Research on Science and Society (CROSS) program.
The event will gather participants from fields ranging from software engineering and computer sciences to anthropology and history. It aims to conceive of digital mobility as a fully-fledged scholarly practice, and to lay the foundations of a digital-humanistic approach to the study of material practices in the making of knowledge. How do researchers navigate online platforms? Do their practices differ from other types of users? How are they linked with more traditional documentary practices? How to facilitate and foster intellectual mobility by devising dedicated platforms built around reading paths and navigation?
This workshop is being co-organized by dhCenter members Jérôme Baudry and Simon Dumas Primbault, and will feature them as well as fellow dhCenter members Maud Ehrmann, Matteo Romanello, Robert West, Boris Beaude, and Nicolas Baya-Laffite as speakers.
Other speakers include Marc Jahjah of the University of Nantes, Irène Bastard of the Bibliothèque Nationale de France, Valérie Beaudouin of Télécom Paris, Christian Jacob of the École des hautes études en sciences sociales (EHESS), Axel Le Roy of Sorbonne University, and Giovanni Colavizza and Karlijn Roex of the University of Amsterdam.
