Created in 2018, the UNIL-EPFL dhCenter is an interdisciplinary research platform set up between the University of Lausanne (UNIL) and the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (EPFL), Switzerland, to facilitate, support, and promote digital humanities research, education, and innovation.

Our vision is to create the shortest path for any search for information or collaboration at the intersection of digital studies, data science, humanities, and the social sciences.

Through our network of over 100 members, initiatives, and communications efforts, we work toward our strategic goals of bringing communities of researchers and students together, encouraging interdisciplinarity, and promoting the link between science and society.

Our activities include organizing events to stimulate debate on the intended and unintended impacts of digital technology; publicizing news, features, and events for the digital humanities research community; and facilitating connections between researchers and projects to create new synergies.

“The history of science has been a long road, marked by several revolutions. That of digital technology invites us to encourage humanities researchers and engineers to converge. Achieving this is the true challenge at the heart of the dhCenter.” – Cesla Amarelle, head of the Canton of Vaud’s Department of Education, Youth and Culture at the dhCenter inauguration, October 31st, 2019

The UNIL-EPFL dhCenter ceased its activities on December 31, 2022. The contents of this site, with the exception of our members' pages, are no longer updated. Thanks to all of you for having kept this space alive! More information
