FORCE11 blog infrastructure series: metadata

The second entry in FORCE11’s blog series on scholarly infrastructure features an interview with Laura Paglione from the Metadata 2020 project.

The year-long FORCE11 blog series explores topics relating to infrastructures for preserving, searching for, and distributing scholarly information. In the second entry, published on March 17th, Laura Paglione of Metadata 2020 gives a Q&A-style interview on the subject of metadata, which she refers to as “unsung hero” of scholarly communication.

Paglione talks about where different types of metadata fit into scholarly infrastructure, and how metadata could be better supported in terms of technology and governance. She also recommends resources for keeping abreast of scholarly metadata issues, including the Metadata Support Group and the PID Forum.

FORCE11 is a nonprofit organization comprised of researchers, librarians, and publishers. Its goal is to reform research publishing and communication systems.
